Why You Need to Create a System of Success Like Now with Kevin Palmieri

As a high achiever, it’s easy to burn the candle at both ends and feel exhausted. What is the best way to find the balance between nurturing ourselves and reaching goals? In this episode, I’m interviewing Kevin Palmieri on how he was able to go from suicidal to turning his life around and having the success and fulfillment that he does today. We talk about his spiritual practice and his belief that the secret to better balance is building fulfillment into your everyday.

Who is Kevin Palmieri?

Today I’m speaking with Kevin Palmieri about creating your system of success. He’s the host of the Hyper Conscious Podcast and founder of From Zero To Podcast Agency. Before becoming the business owner he is today, Kevin found himself in an unusual position. He was making a lot of money working for someone else, had the car, the girl, yet he was depressed.

He says, “I remember opening my final pay stub of the year and asking myself ‘Did I accomplish my goal to 6 figures?’ He did. But nothing changed.

One night he thought, “Your car doesn’t matter, your house doesn’t matter, your wallet doesn’t matter… your thoughts matter more than anything.” And that’s how the Hyper Conscious Podcast was born. Out of this newfound curiosity.

Why do people think the way they do?

Why do they act the way they do?

What if they changed the way they thought… the way they acted? What else would change?

At this point, changing his mindset wasn’t a choice for Kevin. It truly was a life or death decision. Now his mission is to serve others and help them become the best version of themselves by coaching podcasters and helping them reach their fullest potential.

Building Fulfillment Into Your Everyday

As a high achiever it’s easy to burn the candle at both ends and feel exhausted. What is the best way to find the balance between nurturing ourselves and reaching goals? Kevin believes the secret is building fulfillment into your everyday. This can mean working for an hour, and then taking a 15 minute break, or going outside for a walk. But “you have to make sure that you're [still] getting the most important things done.” Kevins adds, “You're always going to lean towards the fun, unique experience part that's always going to be the easy part for you.”

If you struggle with the balance part try asking a friend or two to start an accountability call or text group. You may find yourself being too comfortable choosing the fun things and don’t get work done. Or you could be someone who leans towards the workaholic side of things and need a friend to remind you to take a lunch and rest. Even if you don't believe in yourself, surround yourself around other people who do does because it will do you wonders.

Learning How to Say “No”

He also continued to share that it’s easier to stay on task when you have friends who are also out there achieving big things. They’re more likely to help you stay accountable and understand when you need to say “no” to a lunch date or hanging out. Those are easier and more helpful relationships to have.

However, each of us will have certain family members or friends who might not understand your path. As Kevin says, “Everybody is on a different path and that path is going to take you different places.” So don't don't be afraid to step out of line even if it makes others uncomfortable. It may leave room for people who are going to judge you but you have to be okay with that.

What is a System of Success?

You can create systems today that create success in the long term. Kevin defines a system of success as a custom design system to help you live the life that you want to live. Most people are living by accident. A system of success allows you to live as intentionally as possible.

Kevin tells us to create a system with three major categories: health, wealth and love. Then ask yourself what three to five things that you can do that you're not doing every single day when it comes to health, wealth, and love? “The problem is,” Kevin says, “you're not doing those things every day.”

When it comes to being in a relationship, for example, you can ask your partner questions like:

“Did you feel loved?”

“Did you feel listened to?”

“Did you feel supported?

For health, that can mean completing some sort of physical activity, hydrating, or meditating. For wealth, maybe that means tracking your finances, or investing money every single day. It seems so simple, but consistency isn't.

The key behind consistency is to do things even if you don’t feel like it. There were many times I’d prefer scrolling for yoga outfits online instead of creating a new podcast episode or blog post. But because I have a morning routine as part of my system of success I get things done.

It's not always about what you feel like doing, it's about what you know you should do. And sometimes you should do what you feel. But you need to make sure that you're doing it in a balance so you're actually making progress towards your goals.

Being Disciplined and Consistent with Your Success

Kevin continues to emphasize that in order to have discipline, you have to be consistent. “It's continuously checking in with where you are right now and where you want to be,” he says. At the same time, allow yourself to have the curiosity let yourself be curious. Don't feel like you have to be committed for life or risk everything to accomplish your goals.

Kevin suggests to check in with your scarcity versus your abundance. Ask yourself, “On a scale of 1 to 10, how abundant am I?” Because when you're abundant, you're willing to take risks. When you're scarce, you don't see a way out. Kevin shares a powerful takeaway about discipline and success.

He says, “The biggest difference between the person you are and the person you want to be is your habits.” Getting out of your comfort zone is a habit. Becoming more confident is a habit. The things that you do every single day that serve you will exponentially change your life.

Affirmation

I am embracing the habits and mindsets that serve me best. I am growing and gently stepping out of my comfort zone every day.
