Creativity and Intuition: 3 Thoughts on Hearing and Acting On Our Inner Wisdom

How do I know if my intuition is speaking to me? With creativity, how do I get myself to focus and zone in? These are great questions to ask and ones I’ve thought about over the years. In this compilation episode, I hope to give you insight and inspiration to fuel creativity within yourself.

Lately, I’ve felt fired up about creating and fueled with inspiration. What sparked it was seeing someone put their best creative work in the world and exuding an aligned, powerful energy. It’s palpable! It has me lit up wanting to create 24/7. And I recently had conversations with people in The Good Space community about creativity.

Common questions I hear are: how do I know if it's my intuition speaking to me? And how do I get myself to focus and zone in when I need to? All very good questions and things that I've had to navigate over the years. So I thought it would be really fun to make a compilation episode, where we get the best snippets from different episodes and interviews on creativity and intuition.

I hope this gives you insight and inspiration and the fuel that you need to not only be creative yourself but rein in when you need to. To know the difference between intellect, intuition, ego, etc.

1. Intellect vs. Intuition

The first clip you’ll hear is from my episode on how to know if your intuition is talking to you. It’s important to feel the difference between intellect versus intuition. To know why we still need both. Sometimes people think if we’re intuition led, then we can abandon the intellect. And I share why that's not the case. There's a needed interplay between the two and they work well together. So I hope you enjoy it.

2. The chaos in creativity

This second clip is from one of my favorite interviews. It was with Rachel Jepsen about the chaos of creativity and how to use that to our advantage. She's an editor and writer who says that harnessing the chaos can help you find your creative voice.

She said that accepting fear is a huge and difficult part of the creative process. You must find your own creative process and it always begins with that first spark. The remainder of the process is born out of chaos. And it's all about finding different ways to strategize around that.

If you struggle to focus or rein things in or feel all over the place know that is completely normal. There are ways to work with that chaos. To embrace it and guide the final product.

3. Intuition is morse code for the soul

The last and final clip is from one of my favorite authors, Sarah Ban Breathnach. I felt beyond lucky to have her on the podcast when we first launched. She's the author of one of my favorite books, Simple Abundance. If you’ve been in the TGS community for a bit you know how much I quote this book. Many of you have bought it because of me and I've given it away many times. I love her. And I love this book.

In this clip, she talks about how intuition is the Morse code of how we hear the spiritual. She describes it as a voice that's not her own. How she received marching orders from that voice that eventually led her to write her New York Times best-selling book, which inspired Oprah to start a gratitude journal.

She wasn't seeking it either. That's what's amazing to me. She wasn’t looking for fame. Sarah wanted to change lives, and connect with her readers. This then led to amazing opportunities. She's a great source to listen to about intuition.
