Who is Henry Ammar?

Henry’s life change the moment he realized he didn’t want to be passive anymore. He remembers thinking, “Wait a minute, like, I don't want to live this way. I want to live because I don't want to feel caged.” That’s when he started a lifelong journey to transformation and learning.

He said, “I became obsessed, like someone put a book in front of me, and had questions on the end of one of the chapters, and my mind just started racing.” Henry went to all the seminars, read all the books, interviewed people, and knew he was made for something more.

He went from being a musician, going back to college at 30, becoming NLP certified, and how it came together for the work he’s doing today.

Checking in on Yourself

Your spiritual practice greatly affects your happiness. It also determines the trajectory of your life. Henry shares his spiritual practice and how it aligns him to his true purpose. Here’s what he does:

  • A morning routine where I get into gratitude and pray. Then read scriptures and a book.

  • A night routine.

  • Check in with myself and ask “What's the most important thing I really need to do today? How do I want to show up for it?” Look at my calendar and visualize how I want the day to go.

  • VIZing, a term he coined, where V stands for visualize, I stands for integrate emotion, and Z stands for zoom into it. He uses this technique to visualize and integrate his goals into his body.

To expand on this, Henry says,

“You actually can experience things before you experience them. When you think of something in the past and you visualize it, the same emotions come up. Or you think about something in the future and you visualize the worst case scenario and you have anxiety. The power of emotional visualization is massive. It's used by the best sports people by the best coaches. And when you understand the language of the subconscious mind it’s the imagination. How you decide to use it or not use it will affect your emotional state and will affect how you show up which in turn will affect your health, your wealth, your relationships.”

Today Won’t Be Here Tomorrow

Henry says that you basically have two choice. That if “you want to lose your power, give up your choice.” But, if “you want to step into your power, choose.” He explains further that, “I'm really big on like, understanding that today is truly not going to be here tomorrow. That if I keep putting things off for tomorrow and I live on autopilot today, one day, I'm gonna look back at my life and say, ‘Did I really choose my life?’”

He wants to make sure that’s he’s choosing his life and choosing how to show up and challenges you to do the same. “Then we cut the strings. I'm not the puppet anymore. Right? The problem is we walk around dictated by outside circumstances versus I'm deciding. It [becomes] a life you don't choose.”

He goes on to share that fear is the “root of all sucky things”. There are two types of fear where one keeps you alive and the other keeps you from living. “And the fear that keeps you from living is the worst. It's an epidemic.” This fear consumes us because we don’t like the uncomfortable feeling of stepping outside our comfort zones.

Henry says, “Magic happens outside of your comfort zone. But what happens when you step out of your comfort zone by definition, it's uncomfortable. Your mind is like, what do you do? We've never done this before, come back, come back when you have this like alarm system that goes off. That's why it's important for the mind to be a tool and you aren't the mind.”

Here’s how he suggests you deal with the uncomfortable: “the thing is like, you could understand that the resistance that's going to show up and you could anticipate it.” Then make a plan with yourself that you’ll keep going no matter what. If you wait to feel “good” before doing anything you won’t achieve much.

Go After Your Treasure

Henry then explains you can’t really “get to the truth unless you feel safe enough to get there. If every time you mess up, you beat yourself up for it. Are you gonna want to keep messing up around yourself? No. So guess what you're gonna do? You're going to live in fear and you're going to be stuck playing small.” Make it safe for you to experiment, explore, and grow.

Another helpful tip he shared is about four things you need to believe in order to go after a treasure you want:

  1. You need to truly believe it's there

  2. You need to believe there's a way to get there

  3. You need to believe that you can actually take that way to get there

  4. That it's worth it

Above everything else Henry wants to emphasize there’s hope.

“Where you are isn't always where you're going to be unless you choose to stay there. I promise you, there's hope that it may not look like it in a day or a week. Tony Robbins says people underestimate people overestimate what they can do in a week, but underestimate what they could do in a couple years. You guys, I promise you, there's hope. And just stick with it. Keep your eyes on the prize. Stay focused on the prize every day. And one day you'll look back and say Holy cow.”
