How to Manifest a Positive Money Mindset – Part 2

The second in a four-part series on how to feel your best about money. Inspired by Esther and Jerry Hicks’s book Money and the Law of Attraction this post is all about why we need to create space for money and why feeling good is the most important thing you could do.

Recently I shared this meme with my friend Emily I thought was hilarious:

ONLY $400 million after taxes ya’ll 🤣 On a deeper level, this was a perfect example of why mindset is everything. Rather than the roommate focusing on the fact she’d have $400 million more than she did yesterday (HULLO, positive aspect), she focused on what she wouldn’t have (negative aspect).

This kind of thinking is why people stay stagnant and don’t make above a certain amount. Or go bankrupt when they win the lottery. Scarcity thinking is scarcity thinking whether we’re talking $400 or $400,000,000.

Creating space for money

My friend Emily said, “People hold [abundance] away from themselves because they think they aren’t worth it. Makes me wonder if we’re holding anything away from ourselves?” Great question. Then she said, “I feel like the mind has to expand enough to even hold the space for that kind of money.”

Bingo. I’ll admit when I imagined myself taking home $400 million dollars there were fears and blocks that popped up. How about you? And what if more money isn’t necessarily a good thing?

Kate Northrup brought up this interesting question in an Instagram post. She said that if we don’t have systems in place to manage our current money having more could make things worse. Hmmm . . . Then she compares money systems to a leaky bucket. Here’s a screenshot:

Is your financial bucket leaky? What small step could we take to seal some of the holes? She then says that maybe more revenue won’t cure the exhaustion and burnout that comes from a leaky bucket. Maybe looking at your current systems and changing your relationship to money is the key.

My takeaway is this: We need to be spaces where money can come to us. Where it feels safe to stick around. Strong buckets that can withstand higher water pressure (wealth).

Offering a vibration of abundance

If you feel inspired to mend the holes in your bucket and that more money would amplify your purpose then let’s keep going down the path. Abraham Hicks says, “Abundance cannot find you unless you offer a vibration of abundance.” Makes sense.

Similar to the thought exercise of looking around the room you’re in and counting how many blue objects there are. Then being asked, “Ok and how many red objects were there?” We can only attract and bring into our experience that which we’re focused on or receptive to.

We can only hold in our experience whatever we have the mental and emotional space for. If we’re living in a vibration of scarcity then we’ll see scarcity. We look for evidence to confirm beliefs we hold whether they’re conscious or subconscious.

Living in the energy of what you want

That quote also reminds me of the year or two before I met my husband. I was living in Los Angeles working in the music industry and had been going on dates not connecting with anyone. At first, I felt discouraged and down. Like it was a waste of time and that I put too much hope into each date.

Then I distinctly remember praying to be a match for the person I’m meant to spend life with and saying, “God, the kind of man I want is someone who’s adventurous, kind, successful, family-oriented, and loyal.”  Then I said, “If he’s on his way to me please allow me to be a match for him so that when we meet we’re ready for each other.”

After that, I let go of any expected outcome and focused on enjoying life. I worked on myself and expanded to the level I expected my future partner to be. Then a year and a half later, after having the time of my life working in music, dating for fun, and eating super healthy, that’s when I met my husband. Looking back it makes complete sense.

I was already living in the energy of the life I wanted when he showed up. I felt good. I was living a life of abundance, offering a vibration of abundance into the Universe… and abundance found me.

Why feeling good is important

If the idea of offering a vibration of abundance seems unclear or confusing here’s a quote from Abraham Hicks that makes it more tangible, “The Law of Attraction is not responding to your words but to the vibration that is emanating from you.” Oof. I had to read this three to four times for it to really sink in.

To be clear, thoughts do matter. What we think affects our perception which affects how we feel. And how we feel creates the vibration that emanates from us which is what the Universe responds to. Thoughts indicate where our vibration is and can help us pivot when needed.

Often we can say we’re ready for money but the emotion behind it is fear and anxiety. Fear and anxiety are what the Universe responds to. That’s why feeling good is the most important thing for us to focus on. It doesn’t matter what we say. It matters how we feel.

The language of the Universe is feeling. So let’s get savvy to what vibration we’re emanating. Is it a match to the words we’re saying? If not, let’s work on that.

All that the Universe/God requires of us to receive abundance is to be like it. To reside in love. To court joy and peace. To welcome abundance with open arms. To be open to what we allow into our experience.

Sounds easy right? 😆 Also sounds way too woo for a world full of 40-hour work weeks and social media. The good news is you only need to be willing and open. The rest unfolds naturally.

Affirmation

I am a safe, strong, sure place that money can rest in. Abundance is who I am.
